Today I'm going to share with you my "Top 5 best type restaurants in Seoul to do in 2023" it doesn't necessarily only apply to Seoul but to South Korea in general.

South Korea is a land of culinary wonders, with tasty and diverse dishes. Whether it's the way the dishes are arranged, the cooking techniques used (such as Korean barbecue), the use of chopsticks, the level of chili or typical dishes such as kimchi, Korean cuisine is an experience not to be missed. Let's start with our top 5:

1. Korean barbecue

The Korean grill is not a barbecue in the traditional sense. It uses a large, circular, gas-fired heating element built directly into the tabletop. Varied dishes (shrimp, chicken, beef) are thinly sliced and marinated in a vinegar and soy sauce-based sauce before being grilled. They are served with a variety of side dishes such as marinated seaweed, soy beans, kimchi, garlic, hot peppers, potatoes, hot sauce, white radish and chop suey.

2. Street food stalls

They're a must in South Korea. Affordable and economical, these stalls offer a variety of sweet and savoury dishes. Visit Tteokbokkispicy rice cakes, is an undisputed classic. The Eomukor fish cake soup, is another favorite with its pickled radish accompaniment. For a sweet touch, there's nothing like Hotteoka doughnut stuffed with sweets. The Sundaea sausage made from pork tripe and pig's blood, are also a must. For pancake lovers, the Pajeona pancake with green onions, is a popular choice. The Bungeoppanga sweet fish cake, is a treat for those with a sweet tooth. The ManduKorean dumplings, are another savoury delight, while Odengfish cake skewers, are perfect for a quick snack. And of course, we can't forget the meat skewers with sauce, corn dogs (a sausage surrounded by fried cheese), grilled lobster, and caramelized fruit. Each stand is unique, offering never-before-discovered flavors.
These stalls are all over Seoul, but if you're looking for a place where all these dishes come together, I highly recommend the Myeongdong market!

3. Bibimbap restaurant

It's a culinary milestone. Bibimbap is a traditional Korean dish consisting of a bowl of rice topped with sautéed, seasoned vegetables and various proteins. The sauce that accompanies bibimbap is usually spicy, offering a delicious blend of flavors.

4. Kimpap's restaurant

Kimpap is a popular South Korean dish that resembles a large maki. It consists of rice rolled in a sheet of dried seaweed, with strips of carrot, radish, egg, ham and various other ingredients.

5. Samgyetang Restaurant

And finally, I recommend a restaurant that serves Samgyetang. Samgyetang is a typically Korean dish consisting of a small whole chicken stuffed with glutinous rice, jujube, garlic, chestnuts and ginseng root, all cooked in a broth. This dish is renowned for its energizing properties.

I hope this list will make your mouth water and inspire you to try these delicious dishes on your next visit to Seoul.
